Game
Conversions
Since
the publication of Skyrealms of Jorune 3rd Edition,
the drive has been on to find the best game system for Jorune. Because
of pressures from the publisher, the system published in 3rd Edition
was a mish-mash of untested rules that did not include a) how to generate
a character, b) how to kill the creatures that attacked you, c) how
to play MOST of the races -- and other problems.
Local
Gamemasters solved the problems with a patchwork of fixes for their
own game, or overall conversion to their favorite system.
Ultimately,
the best system for Jorune is one the group will use to play in the
world. For most gamers that means a system with which they are familiar.

| The
Newest Conversion - Unisystem
After
many years, I've been thinking about Jorune and perhaps
running a campaign. Unfortunately, almost all of the existing
rules-sets for Jorune are highly complex and exceedingly
crunchy. While that sort of gaming works for many people,
I'm a highly immersive gamer who is also a fan of systems
that aren't too rules-heavy (Cinematic Unisystem, and New
World of Darkness being my current favorites).
So,
I just uploaded my take on what a non-rules-heavy version
of Jorune would look like into the files are "Unisystem
Jorune.rtf".
This
conversion requires owning a version of Cinematic Unisystem,
preferably the Angel Core rulebook, by Eden Publications.
The conversion is for a somewhat pulpy adventure campaign,
because that's the sort of campaign that I like.

GURPS
This was one
of the earliest conversions for Jorune. At one time it was hoped we
would have an actual, licensed version of GURPS Jorune,
but it was not to be. If thi sis your favorite game system, you can
adapt Jorune to your GURPS group with this file.

HERO
One of the most
popular gaming systems in the history of role playing, HERO
Jorune is the preferred system for many groups. (PDF)
Storyteller
Althought a
late arrival on the role playing scene, White Wolf's "Storyteller"
system quickly became a game with an enormouse player base. White
Wolf was also one of the most supportive publishers when
Skyrealms of Jorune was introduced ... it seems natural.
There are two flavors of this conversion - (Text

Over
the Edge
A niche system
for groups who want the maximum flexibility with the fewest mechanics.
The eerie feel of the original Over the Edge setting provides a nice
other-worldly flavor that can carry over to a Jorune campaign. (Link)
PLUS
A greedy game
system based on the simple concept that more dice = more power. A
simple system with complex character generation, but it has proven
itself to be flexible and allows players new to Jorune to immediately
create a character they like and start playing. (ZIP

System
The
j20 System is based on the original intent of the
3rd Edition d20 system, but is not affiliated with
the "open license d20" system. A d20 polygon
has been the preferred die since the revision of 2nd Edition
Skyrealms of Jorune. The changes with the j20 System
offered here are as follows:
